I wanted to mount a decent set of speakers in the front of the car, because the originals are pretty pathetic. I started by making a set of trim rings for a set of 6-1/2" round speakers, then held the rings up against the kick panesl to see if there was a location that I could mount them. Sure enough, just in front of the doors, there was a spot, but it was a strange shape and would require uniquely shaped enclosures.
